This wonderful achievement comes on the heels of Jelte scoring spots to the World Series of Poker, the World Poker Showdown (WPS) and winning tens of thousands of dollars in cash over the past eleven months.
Jelte Kruijer’s winning streak began in May 2007, when he won a $14,000 seat to the 2007 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas through a Titan Poker Super Satellite Tournament. Since then, he has also won a prize package to the WPS in Costa Rica and finished first place in Titan Poker’s $100,000 Guaranteed and $50,000 Guaranteed Tournaments.

Illegal Poker Game Shut Down
A Poker game ended with the arrest of the organizer due to an undercover police operation this past Sunday in Long Island, NY. While officials recently seem to be focusing on illegal gambling slot machines, this arrest sends out a strong reminder to poker players in America that they have not been forgotten.
The arrest of the 29 year old organizer occurred after a police investigation of local illegal poker games. The police followed the trail of “breadcrumbs” all the way to the location of the game, the William Paca Lodge.

Poker Room Review: Seminole Immokalee Casino, Immokalee, Florida
I recently had an opportunity to visit southern Florida for a combination family vacation and poker-playing trip. My, how the poker scene has changed recently.
Up until July of 2007, poker was limited to $2-limit games played on Indian reservations, dog and horse racing tracks, or jai alai frontons. With a $5 maximum rake and a $1 bad beat jackpot, these games were relatively dull affairs – and it was hard for anyone but the house to make money.
Poker Junkie
The sun will always rise.
People will always die.
The tax man will always cometh (and taketh away).
You could add a few more to the list, but unless it’s an act of whichever all-powerful being to which you subscribe, there aren’t many events to which you can apply the “always” tag.
Especially not in poker.
Of course, some things we’ve discussed here in the past have included that word.
“Always give me your money,” for example.
Poker players, Frank hope to overturn online ban
WASHINGTON — The odds might not be in his favor, but U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., has gained a valuable ally in his fight to overturn a 2006 law banning online gambling. Poker Players Alliance, a grass-roots organization fighting for poker players’ rights, has put its chips on Rep. Frank’s proposal.
With more than 1 million members, the alliance in mid-April began actively lobbying Congress. Members have flooded congressional offices with more than 17,000 letters in the past month, attended town hall meetings in districts and flown to Washington to meet with lawmakers, according to John Pappas, executive director of the alliance. There are 25,000 members in Massachusetts alone.

Young pro’s quads straight-flushed away
Every young poker player looks forward to turning 21 to play in most U.S. casinos - dreaming of entering a main event, winning the title and earning millions as a poker champion.
Does this sound too unrealistic? Well, this exact chain of events happened to Nick Schulman. Known as “The Takeover” online, he dominated for years in poker cyberspace before taking the live tournament circuit by storm.
After turning 21 in September 2005, he won the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) World Poker Finals at Foxwoods that November, earning $2.1 million. In November of 2007, he had an opportunity to become the first player in WPT history to repeat as champion in the same event. He had to settled for second place, but took home almost $865,000.
